Your default life was designed by someone else
And you're following the script perfectly
You didn’t choose your 9-5. Your parents did.
You didn’t choose your college major. The guidance counselor with a script did.
You didn’t choose to believe that a “good job” means trading 40 years for a pension. Society did.
Here’s what nobody tells you…
The path you’re on was designed by people who needed predictable workers, compliant consumers, and manageable citizens. Not fulfilled humans.
Every Sunday night dread, every “golden handcuffs” promotion, every “I’ll start my business later” postponement – these aren’t personal failures. They’re features of a system you never agreed to join.
Your life runs on autopilot because someone programmed the autopilot.
School taught you to sit still for 8 hours and follow instructions. College taught you to go into debt for credentials. Corporate taught you to optimize someone else’s vision while your own dies in a Google Doc titled “Someday.”
The default path is elegant. It answers every question before you ask it. What to study. Where to work. When to retire. It’s so well-designed that most people don’t realize they’re following a script until they’re 45, medicated, and wondering why success feels like failure.
Most people never escape because they’re solving the wrong problem
You think you need better time management. You need a different calendar.
You think you need more motivation. You need a goal worth being disciplined toward.
You think you need to optimize your default life. You need to architect a new one.
The people living lives you admire didn’t hack the system. They left it. They stopped asking “How do I climb faster?” and started asking “Why am I climbing this ladder?”
The only question that matters
Who are you becoming by default, and is that who you want to be?
Because your current trajectory is a decision. Staying comfortable is a decision. Following the path of least resistance is a decision.
The difference is that one person makes those decisions consciously, and the other makes them by delegation.
Your default life was designed by someone else. Your designed life is your responsibility.
The only question is which one you’re brave enough to live.
See you next Sunday!
Tell me where I’m wrong.

So true. It took me into my 30's to choose my own path. It's not a one and done. It's a decision to be made daily in all of the little choices around us that we are told are "normal".
very inspiring
